2026 Municipal Election qualifying begins June 9

AUBURN, Ala.- The 2026 Municipal Election will take place on Aug. 25, giving voters the opportunity to elect Auburn’s mayor and one councilperson for each of the City’s eight wards.
Those interested in running for a seat on the Auburn City Council may begin qualifying June 9.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and:
- Have lived in Auburn for 90 days prior to the election.
- (For councilmembers) Have lived in the district for 90 days prior to the election.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a registered voter.
Candidates must file qualification paperwork at City Hall, 144 Tichenor Ave., no later than 5 p.m. on June 23. Candidates must file additional paperwork with the State of Alabama.
