Auburn Public Library seeks community photos for America 250 Timeline project
April 20 2026
AUBURN, Ala. — In celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, the Auburn Public Library invites community members to help tell Auburn’s story by contributing photographs featuring local landmarks and moments in the City’s history.
As part of the nationwide America 250 initiative, the library is creating a visual timeline that highlights Auburn’s people, places and memories through the years. Residents are encouraged to share personal photographs that capture Auburn landmarks, events, and everyday life.
Community members may bring original photographs to be scanned and returned during one of the following collection sessions at the Auburn Public Library:
• Thursday, May 7 | 6–7 p.m.
• Saturday, May 23 | 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
• Thursday, June 4 | 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
For those who prefer to submit digitally, photos may also be emailed to libraryevents@auburnal.gov.
“We are excited to partner with our community to preserve Auburn’s history in a meaningful and personal way,” said Ashley J. Brown, Engagement and Outreach Librarian. “These photos will help us create a timeline that reflects the people and places that make Auburn special.”
Selected images will be featured in a curated timeline exhibit as part of APL’s America 250 programming and will be unveiled at a celebration for America on Thursday, July 2 at 2 p.m.
