AUBURN, Ala. - Site Selection Magazine has once again ranked the Auburn-Opelika area No. 2 on its list of 2025 Top Metros Per Capita - Tier 2, reinforcing the region's continued success in attracting new investment and job creation. This is the second consecutive year Auburn-Opelika has received the No. 2 ranking.

The annual Top Metros rankings are a benchmark in the economic development community, evaluating metropolitian areas based on their number of qualifying corporate facility projects. These projects must meet Core-Based Statistical Area criteria, including significant capital investment, job creation and new facility construction.

The Auburn-Opelika area's 13 projects helped maintain it's strong national standing in this year's rankings, finishing No. 2 behind Fargo, North Dakota.

In 2025, the City of Auburn announced eight company expansions and one new company. These projects are expected to bring 144 jobs and $482,771,547 in capital investment to the community.

Auburn's continued recognition among the nation's top-performing metros highlights the city's commitment to a strong business environment and long-term economic opportunity for residents. The rankings also underscore Auburn's momentum as a place where business can thrive and where new opportunities continue to emerge.
