Opelika man arrested for unlawful breaking and entering, theft of property

AUBURN, Ala. - On Feb. 4, 2026, Auburn Police arrested Jaquavious La'Michael Devoise, age 18, currently residing in Opelika, Alabama, on felony warrants charging him with three counts of unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle and one count of theft of property second degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police conducting patrol near the 700 block of West Magnolia Avenue on Jan. 22, 2026. Police observed suspicious activity consistent with recent auto burglary reports that occurred in the same area, as well as other locations in Auburn. Additional officers responded to the area and contacted Devoise and a 16-year-old juvenile.

Multiple stolen items were recovered, and property that was initially confirmed to be stolen was associated with the juvenile. The 16-year-old juvenile was arrested for charges associated with auto burglary on Jan. 22. During the investigation that followed, detectives confirmed that property found in Devoise’s possession was stolen. Arrest warrants for Devoise were obtained, and he was located by police and arrested on Feb. 4.

Auburn Police Department Detectives are actively investigating auto burglaries that have occurred recently in multiple locations in Auburn. Vehicles that are left unlocked have been targeted by offenders, and Auburn community members are encouraged to secure vehicles and immediately report any suspicious activity observed.
