Opelika man arrested for burglary

AUBURN, Ala. - On Oct. 27, 2025, Auburn Police arrested Demetrius Lavon Kelly, age 50, from Opelika, Alabama, charging him with burglary second degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report of a residential burglary on Oct. 27, 2025. Police met with a victim who reported that a subject unlawfully entered a residence located in the 1700 block of Covington Ridge during the early morning hours of Oct. 27. The victim was home at the time of the burglary, and the suspect fled after being alerted that the residence was occupied.

Auburn Police searched for the suspect and later located him attempting to leave the area on foot. The suspect was identified as Demetrius Lavon Kelly, and after further investigation, Kelly was arrested for burglary second degree. Kelly was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
