Applications open for Anchor Auburn student program

October 28 2025

AUBURN, Ala.- The City of Auburn and FuelAL will offer a new program for college students in spring 2026. Applications are open for Anchor Auburn, a free talent attraction and retention initiative designed to help students see why Auburn is a dynamic place for students to grow roots and start their lives as young professionals.

The program will feature community-building activities through five sessions during the 2026 spring semester. Sessions will allow students to grow professionally, expand their network and deepen their knowledge of the local community. Participants will have a chance to engage with local and state elected officials as well as business and nonprofit leaders. They will have a chance to understand workforce opportunities in the area and enjoy Auburn's quality of life first-hand.

“We understand how important it is to interact with our college students in a meaningful way and get them connected in our community,” said Trevor Cook, the City of Auburn's workforce development director. “This program will empower us to engage with students who are interested in staying in the area after graduation. We’re excited to showcase why Auburn is a great place to live and work.”

Anchor Auburn is open to undergraduate and graduate students from Auburn University and Southern Union State Community College that have completed at least 30 credit hours before Dec. 31, 2025.

Applications are available online through Dec. 1. Up to 30 participants will be selected for the inaugural program. Those selected will be notified by Dec. 19.
