October 06 2025

AUBURN, Ala.- The City of Auburn is pleased to announce that Hickory Dickory Park has reopened following a series of upgrades and environmental improvements.

The upgrades were made possible through a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and carried out in partnership with Auburn University and the City’s Water Resource Management team. Improvements include:

  • Streambank restoration to reduce erosion and improve water quality.
  • Installation of new rain gardens to enhance stormwater management.
  • A new footpath connecting the park to the Hickory Lane cul-de-sac.
  • Additional picnic tables for enhanced public use.
  • An upgraded gutter system on the restroom building.
  • Fresh sod installation and a new irrigation system to maintain the landscape.

The playground also received updates, including power washing, fresh paint and equipment repairs. Crews also added mulch and trimmed trees and landscaping around the playground.

All areas of the park, including the playground and parking lot, are now open to the public. Residents are encouraged to come out and enjoy the revitalized space. The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation throughout the process.
