Downtown streets to close for Auburn University Homecoming Parade on Sept. 12

AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn University’s Homecoming Parade will be held Friday, Sept. 12, in downtown Auburn. Downtown streets along the parade route will close at 4 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6 p.m.
To promote the safest environment for all event attendees, all vehicles parked in on-street parking along the parade route must be removed by 5 p.m. All vehicles remaining after 5 p.m. will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking along the route will be gradually coned off starting at 3 p.m. to reduce the need for towing. Vehicles may enter the Gay Street Parking Deck until 4 p.m.
The parade will start at the intersection of Thach Avenue and College Street, travel east on Thach, north on Gay Street, west on Tichenor Avenue and south on College ending back at Thach. A pep rally will follow on Samford Lawn.
Heavy traffic is expected near the parade route. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
