Florida man arrested for identity theft, theft of property
January 30 2025
AUBURN, Ala. - On Jan. 28, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, arrested Miguel Alejandro Alice Marrero, age 22, from Kissimmee, Florida, on felony warrants charging him with identity theft and theft of property first degree.
The arrest stems from the Auburn Police Department receiving a report involving a forged check on April 2, 2024. A victim reported that a check was mailed to the intended recipient from a location in Auburn in March 2024. While in transit, the check was stolen and altered. The forged check was used in a transaction at a bank located in Florida by an unknown suspect.
Miguel Alejandro Alice Marrero was developed as a suspect. After further investigation, arrest warrants for identity theft and theft of property first degree were obtained. The warrants remained outstanding until Marrero was located by Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies in Florida in January 2025. Marrero was arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrants.
After waiving extradition, Marrero was transported to the Auburn Police Department on Jan. 28, 2025, and the arrest warrants were executed. Marrero was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
