LaGrange woman arrested for identity theft, theft of property

December 03 2024

Auburn, Ala. - On Nov. 27, 2024, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, arrested Shantavia Brianna Moore, age 19, from LaGrange, Georgia, on felony warrants charging her with identity theft and theft of property first degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving a forged check on Sept. 25, 2024. A complainant reported that a business check was mailed to the intended recipient from a location in Auburn in May 2024. While in transit, the check was stolen, altered and deposited in a bank account associated with an unknown suspect.

Shantavia Brianna Moore was developed as a suspect, and after further investigation, arrest warrants for identity theft and theft of property first degree were obtained. Moore was located by Troup County Sheriff’s deputies and arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrants on Nov. 23, 2024.

After waiving extradition, Moore was transported to the Auburn Police Department on Nov. 27, and the warrants were executed. Moore was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
