New York man arrested for theft of property first degree

Auburn, Ala. - On Nov. 26, 2024, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Columbus Police Department in Georgia, arrested Taylor Alexander Hilo, age 34, from New York, New York, on a felony warrant charging him with theft of property first degree.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving theft report on Nov. 23, 2024. A complainant reported that a suspect stole an item located in the 200 block of South Donahue Drive. The theft occurred just prior to the report.
Auburn Police, assisted by Columbus Police Department officers, recovered the item in Columbus, Georgia, during the early morning hours of Nov. 24. Taylor Alexander Hilo was developed as a suspect. After further investigation, Hilo was placed under arrest by the Columbus Police Department for charges associated with the stolen property.
Hilo waived extradition to Alabama after making bond in Georgia. On Nov. 26, Hilo was transported to the Auburn Police Department, and an arrest warrant for theft of property first degree was executed. Hilo was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
