Opelika man arrested for identity theft

Auburn, Ala. - On Nov. 25, 2024, Auburn Police arrested Jarel Montrea Arelious Jones, age 29, from Opelika, Alabama, on a felony warrant charging him with identity theft.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving identity theft on Sept. 27, 2024. Officers met with a victim who reported that a suspect used the victim’s identity to open multiple fraudulent accounts and accrue unpaid balances.

Jarel Montrea Arelious Jones was developed as a suspect, and he was located by police on Nov. 25, 2024. After further investigation, Jones was arrested for identity theft.

Jones was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
