Opelika woman arrested for theft by fraudulent leasing

November 13 2024

Auburn, Ala. - On Nov. 12, 2024, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Stone Mountain Police Department in Georgia, arrested Bianca Leytise Johnson, age 42, from Opelika, Alabama, on a felony warrant charging her with theft by fraudulent leasing.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report from a business located near the 1200 block of Opelika Road on Sept. 26, 2024. The complainant reported that Bianca Leytise Johnson rented a vehicle from the business earlier in the month. The vehicle was not returned on the scheduled return date.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant for theft by fraudulent leasing was obtained. On Oct. 23, 2024, the Stone Mountain Police Department located Johnson and the vehicle in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Johnson was arrested for offenses that occurred in Georgia, in addition to the outstanding warrant for theft by fraudulent leasing.

When Johnson became eligible for the extradition process, she waived extradition and was transported to Lee County on Nov. 12. The arrest warrant was executed, and Johnson was booked into the Lee County Jail on a $3,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
