Auburn Fire Department announces recent promotions

Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn Fire Department is proud to announce three recent promotions to the rank of sergeant.

Cody Lazenby has been promoted to the rank of sergeant (SGT).

Sergeant Lazenby began his fire service career with the City of Auburn as a student firefighter in Aug. 2019. He accepted a full-time position as a career firefighter in Oct. 2020. He obtained an EMT basic license in 2019 and an advanced EMT license in 2023. Sgt. Lazenby graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Auburn University in May 2024.

Julianna McCracken has been promoted to the rank of sergeant (SGT).

Sergeant McCracken began her fire service career with the City of Auburn as a student firefighter in Aug. 2018. She accepted a full-time position as a career firefighter in Oct. 2020. Sgt. McCracken obtained a bachelor’s degree in 2023. She is the proud parent of one daughter.

Brian Owens has been promoted to the rank of sergeant (SGT).

Sergeant Owens was hired as a career firefighter in Nov. 2020 with eight years of experience from the City of Lanett Fire & EMS. He has been a nationally registered paramedic since 2014 and is also a CPR instructor. Owens graduated with a bachelor of science degree in forestry from Auburn University in 2004. He also gained an associate in applied science degree in fire science in 2020.

He and his wife, Kim, are the proud parents of two children ages nine and seven.
