Atlanta woman arrested for identity theft and theft of property

May 29 2024

Auburn, Ala. - On May 26, 2024, Auburn Police, with assistance from the College Park Police Department in Georgia, arrested Miranda Lauren Masone, age 19, from Atlanta, GA, on felony warrants charging her with identity theft and theft of property second degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving fraudulent checks on January 2, 2024. Police met with a complainant who reported multiple checks were mailed to the intended recipients from a location in Auburn in Dec. 2023. While in transit, the checks were stolen, altered and deposited into multiple bank accounts outside of the Auburn Police Department jurisdiction.

Miranda Lauren Masone was developed as a suspect, and after further investigation, arrest warrants for identity theft and theft of property second degree were obtained.  Masone was located by the College Park Police Department in Georgia, and she was arrested in obedience to the warrants.

Masone waived extradition and was transported to the Auburn Police Department on May 26, 2024. She was later transported to the Lee County Jail and held on an $8,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
