AACT to present 'Miss Nelson is Missing!' Feb. 22-24

February 16 2024

AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) is on the hunt for Miss Nelson! AACT Young Performers, ages 13-18, will bring to life the beloved children’s book, “Miss Nelson is Missing!” on Feb. 22, 23 and 24. AACT has partnered with Grace United Methodist Church (915 E. Glenn Ave.) to bring laughter and action to all ages while the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center is closed for renovations.

This classic children’s book, turned into a play, tells the story of a teacher that can’t control her crazy classroom because she’s too nice. When she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp. With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson, and they’ll do anything — including hiring a private eye — to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 22, 23, and 24 at 6:30 pm. There will also be a matinee performance on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Call 334-246-1084 or visit auburnact.org for ticket purchases and more information. Email info@auburnact.org for group rate information.
