January 09 2024
AUBURN, Ala.- Will Buechner Parkway, named in honor of Auburn's only fallen police officer, is open to traffic following a dedication ceremony held on Monday, Jan. 8. The new road connects Martin Luther King Drive and Richland Road, enhancing connectivity for those traveling in north Auburn.
The new connector road is accompanied by a multi-use path that stretches the length of the roadway, which is just over one mile. A temporary traffic signal has also been installed at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and the new road.
Work is expected to begin soon on the installation of permanent, coordinated traffic signals at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Will Buechner Parkway and the intersection of Webster Road and Martin Luther King Drive.
Travelers in the area are advised to use caution as the community becomes accustomed to using the new roadway and associated traffic signal.
