Auburn Police Department recognizes recent promotions

Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn Police Department is proud to recognize the recent promotions of Officer Taylor Clark and Officer Rhett LaPorte to the rank of detective, effective Oct. 23, 2023.

Taylor Clark has been promoted to the rank of detective. Detective (Det.) Clark has served in the Air Force Reserve for eight years as a Combat Arms Instructor. He has received numerous military awards and has advanced training in conflict resolution, combat operations, urban warfare, counterterrorism, advanced active shooter response, community policing and police tactics. Det. Clark was hired as a police officer with the Auburn Police Department in June 2020 and was previously employed by the Montgomery Police Department from 2018-2020. He is currently studying criminal justice with a minor in Homeland Security at Troy University.

Rhett LaPorte has been promoted to the rank of detective. Detective LaPorte graduated with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Auburn University in 2015. He has served as an evidence recovery technician, field training officer, certified member of the APD Motor Unit and traffic homicide investigator. Det. LaPorte was hired as a police officer with the Auburn Police Department in Nov. 2018. He and his wife of five years, Pia, are the proud parents to their four-year-old daughter.
