Auburn Police Department provides information regarding an incident in Auburn’s downtown business district

Auburn, Ala. - In the early morning hours of Oct. 1, 2023, the Auburn Police Department responded to the downtown business district in the 100 block of N College St in reference to an assault complaint. Responding officers located a victim who sustained multiple injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The victim sustained serious physical injury as a result of the assault.
During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation began inside a downtown business and continued outside the business. The circumstances surrounding what initiated the altercation are still being investigated at this time; however, Auburn Police believes that this is an isolated incident. The juvenile offender was immediately identified and taken into police custody at the scene. The juvenile offender was arrested for assault second degree, and is being charged as an adult in accordance with appropriate Alabama Criminal Code.
The Auburn Police Department places a high priority on investigating these incidents and ensuring the safety and security of our community. Our officers are actively following leads and collaborating with partner organizations and we do not believe there is any threat to the Auburn community or Auburn University related to this incident.
