Auburn Police arrest man for assault second degree

Auburn, Ala. - On June 16, 2023, Auburn Police arrested Marco Jureell Rowell, age 45, from Auburn, AL, on a felony warrant for assault second degree.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police responding to a call reporting a shooting located in the 100 block of Lee Road 57 on June 16. Officers located a 44-year-old male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics and officers provided first aid before the victim was transported to Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA by helicopter.
Marco Jureell Rowell, who was located at the crime scene by responding officers, was developed as a suspect. After further investigation, Rowell was arrested and charged with assault second degree. The victim received treatment upon arrival at Piedmont and the gunshot wound is believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect and victim were acquaintances, and the incident was not random. Rowell was transported to the Lee Count Jail and held on a $25,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
