May 10 2023

Auburn, Ala. - On May 8, 2023, Auburn Police arrested Deterrio Antwone Oglesby, age 38, Ronnie Lee Jones, age 33,  Nathan Michael Bulzan, age 32, Reginald Travon Mitchell, age 40 and Detrick Lemar Thomas, age 46, of Atlanta, GA. Oglesby and Jones were each charged with three counts of possession of a forged instrument third degree, Bulzan was charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument third degree, Mitchell was charged with one count of possession of a forged instrument third degree and Thomas was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving multiple forgery in progress calls at banks located in the 2300 block of Bent Creek Road and 1300 block of South Donahue Drive on May 8. Responding officers located a suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop. Oglesby, Jones, Mitchell and Thomas were identified as the occupants of the vehicle. Bulzan was also located nearby on foot.

Evidence associated with the possession of forged instruments and attempts to cash forged checks at both banks was recovered from the vehicle. The forgeries were also determined to be related to mail thefts, which have been identified as an emerging crime in multiple areas of the United States, including areas in Alabama. After further investigation, the subjects were arrested for charges associated with the forgery activity, with the exception of Thomas who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

All suspects were transported to the Lee County Jail; Oglesby and Jones held on a $4,500 bond, Bulzan held on a $3,000 bond, Mitchell held on a $1,500 bond and Thomas held on a $1,000 bond.
