AUBURN, Ala.- The westbound lane of Opelika Road between North Gay and North Ross streets will be closed to through traffic tomorrow, May 10. The Water Resource Management Department will begin repairing a damaged sanitary sewer lateral around 8 a.m. Work is expected to last until approximately 7 p.m.

Frank Brown Recreation Center and the Harris Center will remain accessible via Perry Street or East Drake Avenue. Well Red and the businesses at the corner of Gay Street and Opelika Road will be accessible via the Gay Street entrance or the eastbound lane of Opelika Road.

Traffic control measures will be in place to help drivers detour around the work. Intermittent lane closures are expected on Thursday, May 11, as crews restore the roadway.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays. The City of Auburn appreciates the public's patience as we work to maintain the City's critical infrastructure.
