Auburn Police arrest two Georgia men on multiple charges

Auburn, Ala. - On Feb. 27, 2023, Auburn Police arrested Marquavious Bernard Favors, age 25, from Peachtree City, GA on warrants for two counts of identity theft, three counts of possession of a forged instrument third degree, possession of marijuana second degree and obstructing governmental operations. Police also arrested Marquez Lezhaun Abernathy, age 26, from East Point, GA on warrants for two counts of identity theft.

The arrests stem from a traffic stop initiated after police observed a traffic violation. Favors and Abernathy were identified as the vehicle’s occupants. During the stop, an investigation was initiated and police recovered illegal narcotics as well as contraband associated with forged checks and identity theft. None of the evidence associated with fraud originated from local victims.

At the conclusion of the investigation Favors and Abernathy were placed under arrest. Favors ($16,500 bond) and Abernathy ($10,000 bond) were transported to the Lee County Jail and held on bond.
