UPDATE: West Magnolia lane closures expected over next three weeks

UPDATE, Oct. 5: Alabama Power work to underground power lines on West Magnolia between Wright and Toomer streets is expected to begin today, Oct. 6, and last approximately three weeks.

Crews will begin work between Wright Street and Legends of Magnolia. After completing that section, crews will work between Toomer Street and Legends of Magnolia. Toomer Street will be closed between Genelda and Magnolia avenues during this portion of the work. Traffic will be detoured via Genelda Avenue and Thomas Street.

Closures will begin at 6 a.m. during Auburn University’s fall break on Oct. 6-7 and after 8 a.m. during the rest of the work. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays.

AUBURN, Ala.- The westbound lane of West Magnolia Avenue between Wright and Toomer streets will be closed beginning Tuesday or Wednesday, Oct. 4 or 5, while Alabama Power works to place overhead power lines underground. Work is expected to last through Oct. 12, pending any unforeseen circumstances. The lane will be closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during the week.

Traffic control measures will be in place to help drivers navigate around the closure. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
