AUBURN, Ala.- The Alabama Department of Transportation released the following announcement about resurfacing on Interstate 85:

"An Alabama Department of Transportation resurfacing project on Interstate 85 from Alabama Highway 147 (Exit 51) to Bent Creek Road (Exit 57) will begin on Sunday, Sept. 18, weather permitting.

The project consists of micro-milling, resurfacing and traffic striping.

During construction, lane closures will not occur during peak hours or Auburn University home football games. Lane closures are permitted Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Motorists are advised to drive the posted speed limit in an active work zone and to be mindful of equipment and crew members. Motorists should also expect delays and plan accordingly.

ALDOT awarded the $5.7 million project to East Alabama Paving Company, Inc., out of Opelika. The project is expected to be complete by Spring 2023."
