UPDATE: Samford Avenue, College Street lane closures expected next week

Sept. 23, UPDATE: The left-turn lanes at the intersection of Samford Avenue and College Street will be closed next week, Sept. 26-30, as work continues to install new traffic signal poles and mast arms. Installation is expected to take place from 4-7 a.m. each day. Only one lane will be closed at a time.
Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
Sept. 20, UPDATE: Work to install the mast arm for the traffic signal pole on the northeast corner of the Samford Avenue and Gay Street intersection will continue on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 a.m. During this time, the left-turn lane on Samford heading south onto Gay Street will be closed along with the left-turn lane on Gay Street heading east onto Samford Avenue. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the work.
Temporary shifts are also expected on Gay Street just north of the Samford Avenue intersection for the remainder of the week. Work will begin on the east side of Gay Street and move to the west side. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, Sept. 23.
AUBURN, Ala.- Lane closures are expected on Samford Avenue and Gay Street next week as work continues on the South College Street, Samford Avenue, South Gay Street improvements project. The following traffic impacts are expected as the contractor installs traffic signal polls and pours curb and gutter:

Monday, Sept. 19:
- The westbound lane of Samford Avenue will be closed just east of the Gay Street intersection from 5-7 a.m. Traffic will be directed into the left-turn lane to maintain two-way traffic.
- The left-turn lane on Gay Street heading west onto Samford Avenue and the left-turn lane on Samford Avenue heading north onto Gay Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 20: The left-turn lane on Samford heading south onto Gay Street and the left-turn lane on Gay Street heading east onto Samford Avenue will be closed from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
- Monday-Thursday, Sept. 19-22: Temporary lane shifts are expected for northbound traffic on Gay Street just south of the Samford Avenue intersection between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
