Auburn Police investigate I-85 shooting

The arrest stems from an investigation into the Wednesday morning shooting that occurred on I-85 between mile markers 56 and 57 in Auburn, AL. Brown was taken into custody in Chambers County after deputies recognized the vehicle from a regional Be On The Look Out (BOLO.)
Auburn Police would like to thank the Montgomery Police Department, Tuskegee Police Department, Opelika Police Department, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Fusion Center, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Lee County Alabama Emergency Management Agency, United States Marshals Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation for their assistance.
The case remains under investigation and additional charges are possible. The suspect was transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held without bond.

AUBURN, Ala. - At about 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2022, Auburn Police responded to I-85 northbound between mile marker 56 and 57 in regards to a vehicle stopped in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers observed that the driver had sustained a gunshot wound from a projectile that entered from the rear of his vehicle. The driver was later identified as a 45-year-old man from Prattville. A passing motorist provided aid to the victim prior to the arrival of first responders. The victim was transported on Haynes Life Flight to Baptist South where he is in critical condition.
Further investigation developed a vehicle of interest. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 1996 white Cadillac Fleetwood license plate 3753BF3. The suspect is described as a black male. If you come in contact with a vehicle matching this description, do not approach. Notify local authorities by calling 911.
This case remains under investigation. Auburn Police are actively working with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine whether three separate shootings that occurred near I-85 this morning are connected.
