Auburn Fire Department recognizes recent promotions

Auburn, Ala. - On June 1, 2022, Auburn Fire Department is proud to announce the following promotions to sergeant, effective May 2022:
Career Firefighter Nick Chaffin has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Chaffin joined the department as a student firefighter in December 2012 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Auburn University. Sgt. Chaffin is a licensed Paramedic and is also an active member of the Georgia Search and Rescue (GSAR) Task Force 4A. He was hired as a career firefighter in November 2018.

Career Firefighter Justin Farmer has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Farmer joined the department as a student firefighter in August 2015 and attended Southern Union State Community College obtaining his advanced emergency medical technician license. He received a bachelor’s degree in fire administration and is expected to graduate with a master’s of public administration with a concentration in emergency services management from Columbia Southern University in spring 2023. Sgt. Farmer is a member of the Auburn Fire Department’s Honor Guard and is also an active member of Georgia Search and Rescue (GSAR) Task Force 4A. He was hired as a career firefighter in November 2018.

Career Firefighter Tim Henry has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Henry joined the department as a student firefighter in August 2015 and obtained an associate’s degree and paramedic license from Southern Union State Community College in 2018. Sgt. Henry was president of the Student Government Association, president of the paramedic class, representative of health sciences and president of Southern Union Ambassadors. He received a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services from the University of South Alabama in 2020. Sgt. Henry is an instructor for Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS.) He was hired as a career firefighter in Nov. 2018.

Career Firefighter Dustin Howard has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Howard joined the department as a student firefighter in January 2015. He obtained an associate’s degree from Southern Union State Community College and a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Auburn University. In 2018, he achieved an Alabama Fire College Smoke Diver certification. Since 1980, only 550 Firefighters have completed this training, and Sgt. Howard is number 448. Sgt. Howard is a licensed paramedic and an EMT and is also a fire and physical fitness instructor for the Fire Department Recruit School. He was hired as a career firefighter in November 2018.

Career Firefighter John Konstant has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Konstant joined the department as a student firefighter in December 2012. He was hired as a career firefighter in November 2018.

Career Firefighter Allen McGinty has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. McGinty joined the department as a student firefighter in May 2014 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services from the University of South Alabama in 2019. Sgt. McGinty has also studied management at Auburn University and is a licensed paramedic. He was hired as a career firefighter in 2018.

Career Firefighter Carson Stroud has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Stroud joined the department as a student firefighter in December 2012. Sgt. Stroud obtained a degree in aviation management from Auburn University in May 2016 and an advanced EMT license from Southern Union State Community College in 2017. He was hired as a career firefighter in Nov. 2018.

Career Firefighter Moses Webb, Jr. has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sgt. Webb joined the department as a student firefighter in May 2014 and studied nursing at Southern Union State Community College. Sgt. Webb is an advanced EMT and obtains certifications through the Alabama Fire College. He was hired as a career firefighter in November 2018. Sgt. Webb and his wife, Karyn, have two children, five-year-old Shiloh and two-year-old Josiah.
