AUBURN, Ala.- Alabama Power will work to restring and remove overhead power lines along Gay Street and South College Street over the next couple of weeks.

Work will begin on Gay Street between Samford and Miller avenues on Tuesday, May 10. Work is expected to take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on May 10-12 and overnight from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. on May 12-13. A power outage is planned during the work on May 12-13 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Alabama Power plans to notify all affected customers.

Once work finishes on Gay Street, crews will move on to work on South College Street between Samford Avenue and Garden Drive. The southbound lanes of South College Street will be closed during work on Tuesday, May 17, which is expected to be completed that day.

Traffic control measures will be in place to keep traffic flowing in both directions during work in these areas. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to take alternate routes to avoid delays.
